Every warm-weather list ranks by beach. With children flying out of Logan in February, the beach is the least decisive variable, because they are all good. What separates these places is how much of your week the travel eats and how badly a bad day hurts.
If your children do not have passports, this question ends the conversation. Getting a first child passport in Massachusetts takes longer than most families expect and both parents have to appear in person.
Four hours and you land in time for dinner on day one. Nine hours with a connection and you have spent a seventh of a seven-day trip getting there, plus a day at the other end recovering.
The number nobody checks and the one that decides how bad a cancellation is. Three or four flights a day means a delay costs hours. One flight on Saturdays means it can cost the trip.

It wins on every one of the three questions at once, which nothing else on this list does. Domestic, so no passports and no customs queue coming home. Four hours. JetBlue 3 to 4 times daily plus a daily Delta. Dry season in February and April, outside hurricane season entirely, outside the sargassum peak. Two or three days in San Juan and then a week on Vieques with a jeep is the trip we would book again tomorrow.
Full guideThe other passport-free option. JetBlue went daily in December 2025 and Delta also flies it. Same domestic advantage as Puerto Rico with fewer daily frequencies, so less room to recover when a day goes wrong.
JetBlue runs it near-daily with a Delta Saturday service. Reliable sunshine is the whole pitch: Aruba sits outside the main hurricane belt and is dry by Caribbean standards, which is why it keeps showing up on our own winter lists.
JetBlue on Saturdays plus American and Delta, with BermudAir adding Saturdays in the winter window. Grace Bay is the calm shallow water people picture when they say Caribbean, which makes it unusually good with small children.
JetBlue went daily in December 2025. The one on this list for families who want the week to be wildlife, hiking and water rather than a beach chair. It is also the least resort-shaped option here.
JetBlue daily since December 2025 plus Delta. The shortest genuinely international hop on the list and the easiest to do as a long weekend rather than a full week.
JetBlue daily since December 2025. Two countries on one small island, which is a novelty that lands well with school-age kids, and the plane-spotting beach is genuinely a thing children remember.
Both JetBlue, both Saturdays, both winter only. Saturday to Saturday is exactly a vacation week, so the schedule fits perfectly. The catch is that a cancellation has no same-day recovery, so these suit families who can absorb a bad day.
BermudAir flies both on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 19 December 2026 to 1 May 2027. Belize City is the only Boston nonstop to Belize that exists. Genuinely different trips, and the least crowded thing on this page.
Also nonstop and worth a look depending on the week: Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Santiago, Montego Bay, Barbados, Puerto Plata, Bermuda and Cancun. There is no Boston nonstop to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel or Guadalajara.

Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Costa Rica, Nassau, Sint Maarten, Punta Cana, Bermuda, Barbados, Montego Bay, Cancun and the Dominican Republic all have Boston nonstops, plus Grand Cayman, St. Lucia, Belize City and Guatemala City in winter only.
Which warm destination from Boston does not need a passport?
Puerto Rico and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Both are domestic flights, so there is no passport requirement and no customs line coming home. For a family that has not sorted children's passports yet, this narrows the entire decision to two places.
What is the shortest flight from Boston to a warm beach?
San Juan, Puerto Rico, at roughly 4 hours. Most Caribbean nonstops from Logan run 4 to 5 hours. The difference between a 4 hour flight and a 9 hour one is the difference between arriving in time for dinner and losing a day of a seven-day trip.
Are Saturday-only winter flights from Boston a problem?
Usually not, and often the opposite. Several JetBlue and BermudAir winter Caribbean routes run Saturdays only, which lines up exactly with a Saturday-to-Saturday school vacation week. The risk is that a cancellation has no same-day recovery, so it suits flexible plans less well.
