These follow the standard Presidents' Day and Patriots' Day convention and were confirmed against two separately approved district calendars. A handful of vocational and charter districts run their own schedule, so check yours before you book anything.
Travel window Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 February. This is also peak Disney week for New England families, which is exactly why the money comparison is worth reading before you book rather than after.

What a fare search
will not tell you.
Three schedule facts key directly off the 2027 dates. None of them show up when you search a fare in October, and each one has changed a real family's plan.
Both suspended 4 January to 19 February 2027, ending the day before February vacation starts. Aer Lingus still flies Dublin and TAP still flies Lisbon, so both trips work. The airline most people search first does not.
Delta added a winter Rome block, 6 January to 7 March 2027, 4 times weekly on the A330-300. A nonstop to Rome inside February vacation is unusual and it will not necessarily come back next year.
Every BermudAir winter route and every JetBlue Saturday-only winter Caribbean route runs through 1 May 2027. Saturday-only sounds restrictive until you notice that Saturday to Saturday is exactly how a vacation week runs.

how little can go wrong.
Vacation week is the wrong week to be clever. One connection, one marginal route, one Saturday-only flight and a delay eats a fifth of your trip. We rank these by resilience: flight length, frequency, and whether a missed departure costs you hours or a day.
Domestic, dry season, outside hurricane and sargassum season, and 24 to 29 flights a week between JetBlue and Delta. Nothing else on this list has that much slack in it.
Icelandair flies it about twice daily all year, which makes it one of very few genuine February options in Europe. Short flight, dark days, and the kind of landscape that makes the cold worth it.
Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Costa Rica, Nassau, Sint Maarten, Grand Cayman and St. Lucia all have Boston nonstops that cover both vacation weeks. Ranked honestly, with the Saturday-only ones flagged.
Three airlines fly it daily, so the fare stays competitive even in vacation week and a cancellation is not the end of the trip. Cold and grey in February, and much emptier than August.
Only because of Delta's 6 January to 7 March 2027 winter block. Worth acting on precisely because it is temporary. Check the block still exists before you plan around it.
Aer Lingus runs Dublin 2 to 3 times daily year-round and that is the backbone. Remember Delta is out of this route for the whole of February vacation, so do not build the trip on it.

Every family in Massachusetts is bidding for the same seats on the same eight days, and the deadline is set by a school committee rather than by you. Flexibility, the usual advice, is the one thing you do not have. So the lever is not timing the market, it is choosing a destination with enough capacity that the spike is shallower. A route with 24 flights a week absorbs vacation week. A route with 4 does not.
The second lever is booking the scarce thing first. Flights are elastic. A four-person rental on a small island in February is not. If you have to choose an order, book the ground first.

How far ahead should you book school vacation week travel?
Earlier than feels reasonable, because the constraint is capacity rather than price. For February vacation the useful deadline is the autumn before, and for anything with limited inventory on the ground, a rental house or an island jeep, book that before the flights if you have to choose.
