Bali or Thailand,
two long-haul trips compared?
Both are real long-haul trips from Boston. The honest difference is firsthand experience: we have run Bali with our own kids, and we have not yet done that with Thailand.
Bali is the shorter of two long trips.
Bali routes one stop via Hong Kong, Doha, Dubai or Seoul. Thailand has no nonstop at all, and the fastest routings, via Abu Dhabi or Istanbul, run about 20 to 21 hours gate to gate. Neither is a short trip, but Bali is the shorter of the two.

We have a real base in Sanur through a Boundless Life worldschool stay, and our Bali guide reflects real family experience. Our Thailand guide is built from our own time there before kids, and we say so plainly rather than fabricating a family itinerary we have not run.

Which is better for very young kids, Bali or Thailand?
Bali, based on our actual experience there with young kids. We would not attempt the Thailand itinerary in our own guide with kids under about 6, given the flight length and the physical demands of a day at Elephant Nature Park.
How long should either trip be?
At least two weeks for either, given how long the flight is. Our Thailand guide specifically would not do it with kids in under two weeks.
